5 out of 5 stars excellent product   March 30, 2008

I looove this stuff!! I have really thick dry hair that i absolutely hate to have to wash every day but because my scalp gets so oily, I have to unless I use this fabulous product. Because my hair is dry (everywhere other than the scalp) I actually like the way my hair looks more with this than actually shampooing it and having it look super dry all over. If you feel like it "builds up" and isn't working, you're probably just spraying too close. Spray from far away, let it settle for a minute or so than brush/comb it through like the directions say. And it really doesn't need THAT much. It actually takes a few min for it to absorb all the oil. I think some of the reviewers who didn't like it probably put too much based on what they are saying. As far as the smell goes, it is really not that bad. My mom actually LIKED the smell. I can't say I like it, but I'm not grossed out by it at all, and besides it goes away almost right away. As far as baby powder vs. this thing..I hate the smell of baby powder so much but sometimes I will sprinkle a little in conjuction with this product and it works GREAT. I can go three days without washing my hair and it looks awesome (And I have really greasy hair.) LOVE IT.

5 out of 5 stars Wow!! No More Greasy Roots!!   December 7, 2008

I bought this product recently and was amazed at how well it works. I was one of those women who HAD to wash her hair EVERY DAY!!! My roots would get SOOO oily, but the rest of my hair looked great. I had tried using baby powder before, but the white residue it left behind left me wanting for another alternative. After using this product my hair looked FANTASTIC from roots to ends. My hair is wavy and always tends to look better on the second day, but those greasy roots made it impossible for me to go without washing my hair everyday. Plus, I blow dry to style so I was seriously concerned about frying my hair with every day wash. Now I don't have that problem and thanks to this product I can feel confident going to work with fresh, clean smelling hair.

Due to health limitations, I have searched high and low for a dry shampoo that actually worked and didn't break the budget. I hit the jackpot with the Batiste Dry Shampoo. By following the directions, it truly made my hair smell and feel clean, but most importantly, made my hair plump up - wild and full!! It was great working with my hair, and every single time I use it, I get compliments on my hair. Go figure! (I don't get them when I have freshly washed and fixed my hair! lol) I only wish it came in a bigger can - I'm on a mission to see if I can find one.

5 out of 5 stars Love It, Great for Color-Treated Hair   January 13, 2010

My hair is bright blue, and I like to keep it that way. But, as many of you know, the more you wash candy-colored hair the more it fades. This stuff is great! It really does work: my hair is fine, straight, and oily by the end of day 2. I put it in on the morning of day 3 and it's like I just stepped out of the salon.

First of all, I followed a previous reviewer's EXCELLENT instructions:
1. spray through roots while slightly lifting and parting the hair, let it sit in hair for 3-5 minutes
2. rake fingers thru hair blending it in from roots to tip
3. take a bristle brush and comb thru to continue blending any that is left

To which I will add some of my own tips:

4. Always start out with much less than you think you need. You can always add more later.
5. It will only work once, maybe twice. Then you really will need to wash your hair.
6. The smell is nice (if a tiny bit chemical, at least is isn't repulsively floral or baby powder) but strong. Best to do it at least an hour before you go out, give the smell a little time to fade.
7. Does not mix well with other products. If you intend to use shine or voluminizor, they don't seem to work well with the dry shampoo. I use very few products on my hair and that seems to be the trick to making this stuff work well.

I haven't tried any other dry shampoo products yet but I have one in the wings and I will be comparing them once I do. However, I suspect I will stay true to this one because of the smell if nothing else.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect! Works better than described!   August 13, 2008

In high school, I swam competitively and showered (and washed my hair) daily. At age 16, this is fine, but as you age (and become more busy) it's impossible to wash and dry and straighten (or style) long hair every day.

In college, I began shampooing every other day, and wore a ponytail on the days I didn't shampoo - BLAH! Batiste is great - you shake the can HARD, spray lightly and evenly on the part in your hair and rub into your scalp, then brush out. I will then part my hair again (about 4 times total) all along the top of my head and spray evenly, rub with fingers, and then brush out. The spray absorbs most oil and even adds some body to the roots! It even works well after you sweat at the gym (I recommend lightly and coolly blow-drying your roots, then using Batiste to touch up). No, Batiste is not exactly the same as a real shampoo - you won't get the same results, but 75% is better than the 0 I was getting before!

Now, I only have to shampoo every third day, instead of every other day like when I started using Batiste. Most people don't know, but shampooing is a self-defeating premise - the more you shampoo, the quicker your roots become greasy. After a month of using Batiste (for the days in between shampooing), I need less product than I used to, and only shampoo every third day.

I've tried baby powder on my roots before - it just makes brown or black hair look gray! The only draw back is the scent is a little strong, but my boyfriend claims it smells almost as good as a fresh shampoo. Batiste is money well spent on the 6+ hours I now have every week!
